Getting back into video content like it’s 2017
January 10, 2024
Back in 2017, I immersed myself in vlogging, inspired by NYC creators like Kraig Adams, Sara Dietschy, and Casey Neistat. Although daily vlogging was just emerging, it was achievable for small creators on YouTube.
Vlogging is a powerful way to showcase your personality and brand. Regular, raw content helps you connect with viewers and grow your audience.
Although I wasn’t aiming for a massive YouTube following, I enjoyed uploading weekend vlogs capturing moments from my year. These videos, influenced by top creators, helped me develop a unique, laid-back style.
Document vs. Create
Gary Vaynerchuk’s mantra, "Document, don’t create," encourages authenticity. It’s about sharing your journey, not overthinking the message. This approach keeps your content genuine, focusing on the process rather than a pre-planned story.
Film What You Love
Last year, I uploaded two Instagram reels for a Northern Irish band, "And So I Watch You From Afar." One reel received over 7,600 views, and the other surpassed 10,000 views. Filmed from the crowd, these videos captured the raw energy of the moment.
Moira Community Santa Run
Another memorable moment was filming the Moira Community Santa Run, where it unexpectedly snowed midway. This video now has over 11,000 views on YouTube, promoting the event and boosting Tourism NI’s visibility for Moira.
Serendipity in the Moment
Sometimes, serendipity brings the best moments. Capture what you love and let the magic unfold. Keep sharing your journey, and you never know who might connect with your story.
If you’re interested in following my journey, you’re in the right place. Check back regularly for new content, or follow me on YouTube to stay updated.
